Which teams have been eliminated from CHAN 2024?
The flipside of it was that 11 teams failed to make it to the quarter-final stage. The competition started with 19 teams, with three groups having five teams each, while Group D had four teams.
Only the top two teams from each group advanced to the next stage, while the rest went home.
In Group A, Kenya’s group, two-time champions DR Congo, Angola, and Zambia failed to make the cut.
In Group B, Mauritania missed out on goal difference with Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic exiting as well.
In Group C, South Africa, Guinea and Niger were eliminated while Nigeria and Congo were the casualties in Group D.
How much did Zambia earn?
Zambia’s case was more peculiar as they were the only team that failed to win a single game at CHAN 2024.
Avram Grant’s side were beaten 2-0 by DR Congo, 2-1 by Angola, 3-1 by Morocco before the final 1-0 loss to Kenya.
Despite their catastrophic campaign, the Chipopolo are still set to make a lot of money.
CAF had announced an increase in prize money where the last-place finisher in the group would earn $200,000 (KSh 25.8 million).
Zambia, therefore, left Kenya KSh 25.8 million richer despite losing all their games.
